Ranked Play isn't on Modern Warfare 4's launch roadmap, and in recent Call of Duty games it has arrived 26 to 83 days after launch. That gives you a few weeks to get ready.
1. Learn the likely maps
Competitive map pools are usually drawn from the core 6v6 maps. Learn spawns, power positions and rotations on the beta six first: Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette, Lotus and Lithium.
2. Level the competitive staples
Ranked rulesets restrict weapons and attachments. The guns that are usually allowed are the main assault rifles and SMGs, so get them to max level (and their Apex Attachments) before ranked opens.
3. Play like it's ranked now
- Play objective modes with a consistent group.
- Practise communicating: enemy positions, health, and when your UAV is up.
- Learn the timing and value of trades. One kill for one kill on the objective is often a win.
4. Sort out your fundamentals
Movement, crosshair placement and pre-aiming common angles matter more than any loadout. See our movement guide.
Start ranked with everything unlocked
Turn up to ranked with your competitive weapons already maxed. Our MW4 boosting handles weapon leveling, and our 24/7 bot lobbies are a fast way to finish the grind yourself.
