Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches worldwide on October 23, 2026. It's a standalone release, so you don't need an older Call of Duty installed, and the full package is live on day one: the story campaign, 6v6 multiplayer and the DMZ extraction mode.
What's in at launch
- Campaign set during a North Korean invasion of South Korea.
- Multiplayer with 12 core 6v6 maps, 33 weapons and player levels 1 to 55.
- DMZ, the persistent extraction mode set in the Hajin Exclusion Zone.
What's not
There is no Zombies mode in Modern Warfare 4. The game is also not on Game Pass at launch, so Xbox and PC players need to buy it outright. Warzone integration and Ranked Play come later (more on both below).
Already playing?
If you pre-ordered digitally, the campaign has been unlocked since October 16 and DMZ since October 20. Weapon progress you've earned in DMZ early access carries over to the full game.
Hit the ground running
Want to skip the early grind for unlocks and camos? Our Modern Warfare 4 boosting covers levels, weapon progress and camos, and our bot lobbies run 24/7 if you'd rather grind it yourself without the sweat.
