Modern Warfare 4 is faster and more mobile than recent Modern Warfare games, and the first few hours can be rough. This guide covers what makes the biggest difference early on.
1. Fix your settings first
- Field of view: raise it from the default. A wider FOV makes it much easier to spot flanks.
- Sensitivity: pick one you can control and stick with it for a week. Changing it every day is the fastest way to never get consistent.
- Audio: use headphones and an audio preset that makes footsteps clear. Sound is free information.
2. Play the campaign or the movement course
Activision added a dedicated movement course, and it's worth 20 minutes. Learn to chain sprint, slide, mantle and climb before your first ranked-style sweat lobby.
3. Reach level 4 and build one class
Create-a-Class unlocks at level 4. If you're not sure what to run, the optional Gunny assistant suggests balanced builds. Pick one weapon you like and level it. Spreading XP across ten guns slows everything down.
4. Learn three maps properly
Don't try to learn all 12 at once. Start with three from the beta pool (Rooftops, Transit 213 and Lotus are good picks) and learn where the common head-glitches and flank routes are.
5. Play the objective
Killstreaks in MW4 build from both kills and objective play. Capturing points and holding hardpoints gets you streaks even if your aim isn't there yet.
6. Review your deaths
Watch the killcam and ask one question: where was I looking, and where should I have been looking? Most deaths come from bad positioning, not bad aim.
Want a shortcut?
If you'd rather start with a levelled account and the good attachments already unlocked, our MW4 boosting covers player level, weapon levels and camos. Prefer to do it yourself? Our bot lobbies run 24/7, so you can grind XP and practise in low-pressure matches.
